The Israeli army conducts a surprise alert test called “Dawn Break 2.0”

The Israeli army said in a statement, “At the direction of the Chief of Staff, General Eyal Zamir, the Chief of Staff test was suddenly activated today, Sunday morning, under the name “Dawn Breaking 2.0,” to examine the level of preparedness and readiness of the General Staff and the main headquarters in the IDF, the preparedness systems, and the ability to deal with a sudden, large-scale, complex, and multi-front event.”

The Israeli army added, "The exercise aims to examine the level of preparedness and readiness of the IDF for a variety of sudden operational scenarios, and to activate states of alert and reserve forces, and decision-making and operational response mechanisms at all levels, starting from regional commands, arms and bodies, all the way to the General Staff, in preparation for the holiday period and to strengthen defense."

The army noted in its statement that, “As part of the surprise exercise, commanders in all commands, agencies, and arms were summoned, and the reserve forces are being mobilized and the reserve forces are being examined. The Chief of Staff is also following up and evaluating the management of the exercise from the headquarters of the Supreme Command and in the field.”

He added: "During the exercise, you will notice active movement of security forces and air forces across the country. There is no fear of a security incident occurring."

The statement stressed that "the test forms part of an ongoing process in the Israeli army aimed at strengthening the army's foundations, and the efficiency and readiness of all levels of fighters and commanders. Within its framework, training takes place on applying, consolidating and testing operational plans, in addition to drawing accumulated lessons from fighting on various fronts and from the events of October 7."

The statement concluded, "Army surveillance officers in regular service and reserve are conducting reviews in units and headquarters to examine their efficiency and operational readiness, and the exercise is being carried out within the framework of the Operations Authority's training program for the year 2026."
