Shin Shin-han, Governor of North Chungcheong Province, orders ‘a meticulous attraction strategy in preparation for the second relocation of public institutions’

(Cheongju = Yonhap News) Reporter Jeon Chang-hae = On the 7th, North Chungcheong Province Governor Shin Shin-han ordered the establishment of a cooperative system with cities, counties and related organizations and the concentration of provincial government capabilities in relation to the government's second relocation of public institutions.

Governor Shin presided over an expanded executive meeting on this day and gave this order, saying, "At the time of the first public institution relocation, North Chungcheong Province was an underprivileged region that was not assigned market-type public enterprises or large quasi-governmental organizations."

He continued, "We need to carefully analyze the government's recently announced direction for the second round of public institution relocation to prepare an optimal attraction strategy that can strengthen the function of Chungbuk Innovation City and the local industrial base," and emphasized, "Develop customized activities for each institution to attract institutions that will have a real ripple effect on the local economy."

He also added, “Public institution relocation is not simply a matter of moving one institution, but a core policy for balanced national development that grows local industries, universities, talent, and residential conditions together.” He added, “While continuing to suggest to the government the justification for prioritizing Chungcheongbuk-do, actively review participatory movements that can unite the will and capabilities of the residents.”

Previously, on the 3rd, the government announced a relocation plan for about 350 public institutions in the metropolitan area during the fourth quarter of this year and announced that relocation would begin in 2027, and North Chungcheong Province is hoping to attract companies such as Korea Airports Corporation, Korea Sports Promotion Corporation, Korea Environment Corporation, Korea District Heating Corporation, Small and Medium Business Bank, Korea Institute of Science and Technology, and Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology.
