A resident of the Rostov region was sentenced to 20 years in prison for treason and preparation of sabotage.

The Rostov Regional Court sentenced a local resident to 20 years in prison for treason, attempted sabotage and rehabilitation of Nazism. Lenta.ru was informed about this by the press service of the court.

The convict will spend the first 4 years in prison, the remaining part in a maximum security colony.

The court found that in January 2024, a man with pro-Ukrainian views contacted representatives of the Ukrainian intelligence services and began to cooperate with them. He was instructed to commit sabotage in the Rostov region by damaging transport infrastructure. The man was transferred money and in April 2024 he went to study the area, after which he prepared the crime weapon.

The saboteur who arrived at the scene was intercepted by law enforcement officers. It turned out that he had previously insulted veterans of the Great Patriotic War. As the administrator of a page on a social network, the man published an image of the St. George ribbon with text insulting front-line soldiers.
