The 2026 Yulin Marathon kicks off with 15,000 runners participating and the record of the three events has been rewritten

China News Service, Yulin, Shaanxi, September 26 (Reporter Zhang Yichen) The 2026 Yulin Marathon started with a gunshot at Yulin Century Plaza on the 26th. 15,000 runners gathered in Saishangtuocheng, galloped hard on the 42.195-kilometer track, and measured the historical heritage of Yulin with their footsteps. In the end, after fierce competition, the winners of each project award were selected. At the same time, the records of the three events were also rewritten.

As a Category A certified event of the Chinese Athletics Association, this event is hosted by the Shaanxi Provincial Sports Bureau and the Yulin Municipal People's Government, certified by the Chinese Athletics Association and the Shaanxi Provincial Athletics Association, hosted by the Yulin Municipal Sports Bureau, and operated by Weiying Event Operations Co., Ltd. The event has two major events: marathon and half marathon, with the number of participants being 5,000 and 10,000 respectively.

Runners start from Century Square and walk along Great Wall South Road and Binhe Road. On one side are the clear waters of the Yuxi River and stretches of forest belt. On the other side are the ancient city walls and deep streets. Along the course, you can overlook the Zhenbeitai Great Wall beacons, and runners can feel the majestic atmosphere of the ancient frontier city while running. In the marathon event, the competition in the men's group was particularly fierce. Wang Tao was the first to cross the line and win the championship in 2 hours, 16 minutes and 12 seconds, breaking the competition record. In the women's group, Yang Yuan won the championship in 2 hours, 48 ​​minutes and 30 seconds. The half-marathon also had good results frequently. In the men's team, Zhang Guofu won the championship in 1 hour, 06 minutes and 37 seconds, and Liang Shuai won the runner-up in 1 hour, 06 minutes and 42 seconds. Both of them broke the meet record. In the women's half marathon, Zhao Chaoyun broke the meet record and won the championship in 1 hour, 15 minutes and 35 seconds.

In order to fully unleash the traffic-draining effect of the event, Yulin has launched a series of cultural tourism initiatives to benefit the people. During the event, many A-level tourist attractions in the city will waive first-pass tickets for contestants, including Zhenbeitai, Hongshixia, Wave Valley, Hongjiannao, Tongwancheng and other core scenic spots; contestants can enter the park with their competition number cloth and their valid ID, and can also receive electronic consumption coupons to enjoy full-chain discounts on "food, accommodation, travel, shopping and entertainment".
