2026 Taichung International Animation Film Festival will be held on October 3, and pre-sale tickets will go on sale on September 11

The "2026 Taichung International Animation Film Festival" (TIAF) will make its grand debut at the iFG Farglory Plaza Village Roadshow Cinemas in Taichung from October 3 to October 10. The Taichung City Film and Television Development Foundation will hold a press conference today (7th) to launch the sales. Pre-sale tickets will be officially launched on the OPENTIX ticketing system at 12 noon on September 11.

Lin Qingxuan, program director of the festival, said that this year, with "VIBE, Pulse" as the curatorial theme, the festival has assembled 8 major short film sections and more than 10 internationally selected animated feature films, and invited international animation filmmakers from Japan, France, Canada and other countries to Taiwan to participate in focus screenings, lectures and post-screening discussions.

Lin Qingxuan said that this year, Chris Lavis, who won the 2026 Oscar for Best Animated Short Film and was also the winner of the Special Mention Award at last year’s Taichung International Animation Film Festival, and Japanese animation director Mizuko Miziri were specially invited to lead the audience to have an in-depth understanding of sensory animation, puppet animation and the creative aspects of different author styles.

One of the opening films of this session, "The Island", will have its world premiere at the festival, and the closing film will be the French animated feature film "Lucy", which was selected for the 2026 Cannes Film Festival and the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, starring Lucy, a girl with white hair and mysterious powers. , depicting her story of growth, friendship and self-acceptance during the journey, adding another international highlight to the film festival; the "TIAF Satellite Exhibition Area" will launch a special exhibition of "Qi Tan Island Flight" animation creation at Zhongshan 73 Film and Television Art Space from September 11 to October 12.

Wang Yunyu, acting CEO of the Taichung City Film and Television Development Foundation, added that before the official launch of the film festival, an "outdoor screening" will be held at the Civic Plaza at 7 pm on September 26. The selected movie is "Snoopy The Peanuts Movie", a childhood memory shared by many citizens. The exhibition's exclusive large-scale balloon installation, which was exposed for the first time, will be on display, along with a giant Snoopy built by the Transportation Bureau.
