Shenzhen Airlines will launch direct flights from Shenzhen to Sydney in December 2026

China News Service, Shenzhen, September 11 (Reporter Suo Youwei) Shenzhen Airlines announced on the 11th that Shenzhen Airlines will launch direct flights from Shenzhen to Sydney from December 14, 2026, with four flights per week, operated by Airbus A330 wide-body passenger aircraft. This is Shenzhen Airlines’ second direct international route to Australia after the Shenzhen-Melbourne route, marking Shenzhen Airlines’ further improvement of the air route network layout connecting Shenzhen to the South Pacific.

Shenzhen is the core hub city of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and Sydney is an important economic and trade gateway city in the southern hemisphere. The opening of the new route has established an efficient and convenient air channel between the two cities, greatly shortened the time and space distance between the two places, facilitated personnel exchanges, cultural and tourism exchanges and business exchanges, and continued to deepen the interconnection between the Greater Bay Area and the Australian region.

In order to better meet the travel needs of passengers, Shenzhen Airlines has simultaneously optimized its Australian route capacity. Starting from October 25, 2026, the route from Shenzhen to Melbourne will be increased from three flights per week to five flights per week. Through the dual measures of "new routes + increased frequency", we will continue to enrich air options between China and Australia, and facilitate business travel, study abroad and non-governmental exchanges between the two places.

Since 2023, China and Australia have relied on the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) cooperation framework to continue to deepen local economic and trade exchanges. Shenzhen and Sydney have close industrial docking and frequent innovative cooperation in key areas such as clean energy and smart cities, and have a solid foundation for two-way exchanges. 2026 coincides with APEC's "Year of China", and the smooth opening of the direct flight from Shenzhen to Sydney is a continuation and sublimation of the long-term friendly cooperation between the two places.
