Kalashnikov has shipped a large batch of Dragunov sniper rifles with folding stocks (SVDS) under government contracts for 2026. The press service of the concern reported this.

It is noted that since 2022, SIDS has been in increased demand in the area of ​​special military operations. The weapon allows you to hit enemy personnel and unarmored equipment at ranges of up to 1.3 thousand meters. Because of the characteristic sound of a shot, the SVD is called a “whip”.

The modification of the basic SVD received a folding stock and a shortened barrel with thicker walls. A rifle with an optical sight weighs about 4.7 kilograms. Ammunition is supplied by a ten-round box magazine. The concern emphasized that the SVDS can fire any 7.62x54 mm cartridges, but special sniper ammunition provides maximum accuracy.
