Korean table tennis received a report card that failed to win even a single silver medal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

This is the first 'no silver' humiliation in Korean table tennis history since table tennis was introduced as an official sport at the 1958 Tokyo Games.

The Korean table tennis team was eliminated one after another in the individual match schedule of the tournament held at Sky Hall Toyota in Aichi Prefecture, Japan on the 26th, with all participating players failing to pass the semifinals threshold.

Ace Shin Yu-bin (Korean Air), who competed in the women's singles quarterfinals, was defeated by China's Wang Man-yu 0-4 (9-11 6-11 6-11 5-11).

I was unable to show my skills, perhaps because my stamina was low after competing in the team event and mixed doubles.

Joo Chun-hee (Samsung Life Insurance) also fought against the world's strongest player, Sun Ying-sha (China), but lost 2-4 (9-11 12-14 3-11 11-7 13-11 8-11) and was unable to advance to the semifinals.

Shin Yu-bin and Joo Chun-hee, who advanced to the women's doubles quarterfinals, suffered a painful defeat to Thailand's Sutassini Sawetabut and Orawan Paranang 2-3 (8-11 11-9 11-7 4-11 10-12).

The pair of Oh Jun-seong and Lim Jong-hoon (Korea Exchange), who participated in the men's doubles quarterfinals, also lost 1-3 (11-7 4-11 6-11 10-12) to Japan's Sora Matsushima and Shunsuke Togami.

Even Jang Woo-jin (SeAh) in the men's singles lost 0-4 (7-11 6-11 7-11 8-11) to Taiwan's Feng Yixin in the round of 16, leaving Korea unable to produce a single semifinalist in all individual events.

Korean table tennis, which previously failed to advance to the finals in both the men's and women's team event and the mixed doubles event and only won three bronze medals, ended this tournament with only three bronze medals.

There have been many instances where Korean table tennis failed to win a gold medal at the Asian Games, but this is the first time in history that it has never made it to the finals or even won a silver medal.
