The 6-meter-high "TAOYUAN LUMA ARK" in the agriculture-themed exhibition area of the 2026 Taiwan Design Exhibition debuted in the Qingpu exhibition area today. The exhibition is centered on "Taoyuan Agriculture × Technology × Design" and uses digital technology, interactive installations and smart cultivation concepts to reinterpret the appearance of Taoyuan's agricultural production from plains, mesas, hills to mountains. It also makes how technology enters the agricultural scene, becoming an important theme of the exhibition.
The exhibition area uses Taoyuan's agricultural landscape with an altitude of 0 to 2,000 meters as the curatorial axis. Among them, the "Agricultural Corridor" presents four major landscapes according to different terrains: plain ponds, platform smart cultivation, hilly tea gardens and reservoir watersheds, and alpine fruit forests. Through light and shadow, digital media, and interactive methods, the public can understand how different terrains, climates, and production conditions affect farming. It also shows the transformation of agriculture after the gradual introduction of technology.
"Taiwan Smart Cultivation" has become an important representative of technological agriculture. In recent years, Taoyuan agriculture has not only relied on traditional farming experience, but also gradually integrated environmental control, data application and smart production concepts, hoping to reduce labor burden, improve production efficiency, and respond to challenges such as climate change and rural labor shortages.
Taoyuan Mayor Zhang Shanzheng said that in addition to the experience accumulated by farmers over the years, agricultural development also requires the joint investment of young farmers, farmers' associations and new technologies. In recent years, the city government has continued to promote scientific agriculture and youth return home, hoping to improve agricultural production methods through new technologies and allow the younger generation to see that in addition to traditional farming, agriculture has more room for innovative development.
This exhibition integrates 11 Taoyuan specialty agricultural products, including rice, vegetables, flowers, honey, Shimen live fish, tea, black pork, shiitake mushrooms, peaches, foliage plants and vanilla pods, to demonstrate the connection between technology, land and agricultural products. The large-scale "Original Ark" uses air film, light and shadow and space design to transform Taoyuan's agricultural landscape into an immersive experience.
