China News Service, Yinchuan, June 14 (Reporter Li Peishan) From June 13 to 14, the 2026 Academic Annual Meeting of the Society for the History of Exchanges, Exchanges and Integration of Chinese Ethnic Groups and the Academic Seminar on the Research of the Historical Materials System of the Chinese National Community were held at Ningxia University.
More than 120 experts and scholars from more than 50 universities and research institutes across the country gathered at the scene to conduct exchanges and discussions around the construction of a historical material system for the Chinese nation's community under China's independent knowledge system.

This conference focuses on the construction of the historical material system of the Chinese nation community and opens four major sub-forums, focusing respectively on the research on the Chinese nation community, the study of historical materials on the history of exchanges, exchanges and integration of the Chinese nation, the research on the history of exchanges, exchanges and integration of the Chinese nation from the Qin and Han Dynasties to the Liao, Song, Xia and Jin Dynasties, and the research on the history of exchanges, exchanges and integration of the Chinese nations in the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.
Participants systematically sorted out the interactions between various ethnic groups in different historical periods, and discussed the standards for organizing historical materials and the innovation of research methods.
At the meeting, many scholars gave keynote reports, covering many fields such as the establishment of academic systems, changes in ethnic population distribution, exploration of traditional cultural genes, interpretation of historical archives, ancient cultural identity, regional historical connections, etc., focusing on the latest research results in this field.
Ningxia is located in the intersection of agriculture and animal husbandry and the strategic route of the Silk Road. Since ancient times, it has been a place where multiple ethnic groups live together and multiple cultures blend.
The local academic community, represented by the School of Ethnology and History of Ningxia University, has long been engaged in historical research on ethnic exchanges, exchanges and integration, and has successively completed multiple compilations of historical materials and historical works, and the construction of relevant research and study platforms has formed a mature system.
It is reported that this is the first national academic annual conference held by the Chinese Association for the History of Exchanges, Exchanges and Integration of Various Ethnic Groups.
The conference established a stable academic exchange platform, further consolidated the historical material foundation of relevant research, and promoted the continuous improvement of historical materials, discourse and theoretical systems.
Next, the academic community will continue to promote the excavation and utilization of massive historical materials and the compilation of local ethnic histories.
Local research institutions in Ningxia will also continue to deepen research in related fields based on regional characteristic historical materials resources and promote the continuous development of national history research.
This conference was hosted by the Society for the History of Exchanges, Exchanges and Integration of Chinese Ethnic Groups and Ningxia University, and was co-organized by the four ministries and commissions of Ningxia University to build a research base for the Chinese nation community, the School of Ethnology and History of Ningxia University, the School of History and Culture at Minzu University of China, the Research Center for the History of Exchanges, Exchanges and Integration of Chinese Ethnic Groups at Minzu University of China, and the Yinchuan Xixia Mausoleum District Management Office.
