September 23 is the autumnal equinox, and the 2026 Chinese Farmers Harvest Festival Zhejiang home event was held in Keqiao, Shaoxing, Zhejiang. A series of special activities in the Jiangnan water town conveyed the joy of farmers' harvest.
Currently, Zhejiang is actively promoting the pilot demonstration of common prosperity. In 2025, the per capita disposable income of rural residents in Zhejiang will exceed 45,000 yuan, ranking first among all provinces and autonomous regions in the country for 41 consecutive years.
It is reported that this event, with the theme of "A bumper harvest opens a new chapter and hard work promotes revitalization", set up a farming culture exhibition, supporting 8 sub-activities such as the historical classic industry exhibition, the agricultural heritage exhibition, and the science and technology empowered agricultural machinery to the countryside exhibition. The event site panoramically displayed the new achievements of Zhejiang's rural revitalization through farmers' singing and dancing, modern agricultural displays, exhibitions and sales of specialty agricultural products, and farming cultural experiences.
The location of the event - Keqiao Yejiayan was built based on Jianhu Lake. In the golden autumn, thousands of acres of glutinous rice are spread out in layers, and the white walls and black tiles complement the clear water and fertile fields, showing the harvest scene of the water town. In the agricultural heritage exhibition area, torreya farmers were frying torreyas newly picked this year, and bursts of torreya fragrance wafted from the scene.
"Our Zhan'ao Village has nearly 5,000 ancient torreya trees that are more than 100 years old. The torreya is a veritable fruit for getting rich." Huang Tianming, a 65-year-old torreya farmer from Zhan'ao Village, Keqiao, said in an interview. "In the past, everyone basically only sold torreya dried fruits. Now we have made highly processed foods such as torreya special drinks, torreya wine, and torreya chocolate, which has broadened the market for torreya."
According to the relevant person in charge of the Keqiao District Agriculture, Rural Affairs and Water Conservancy Bureau, in recent years, the local area has actively promoted the construction of the "6+X" agricultural industry chain, including 6 high-quality chains such as tea, torreya, orchids, and rice wine, and a number of specialty chains such as "a table of local vegetables", mushrooms, and bayberry. The total output value of the entire industry chain has reached 5.5 billion yuan. At the same time, Keqiao vigorously implements the "Qingcun Keqiao" plan, such as setting up a "Youth Entrepreneurship" fund with a total scale of 100 million yuan to support young people to start businesses in the countryside. So far, the local area has cultivated more than 1,500 agricultural makers and more than 10,000 new farmers.
At the event site, Zhejiang’s Golden Autumn Consumer Season was launched simultaneously. Next, the province will implement eight measures to promote consumption in the golden autumn, including "Zheli Fengwu" shopping, Zheli rural tours, and Zheli good taste, to further expand the production and marketing links of agricultural products. Among them, more than 100 activities will be carried out in the "Zhejiang Province Abundant Products" series of activities to promote seasonal fruits and vegetables, high-quality aquatic products, specialty livestock and poultry, etc. into communities and schools.
