The 2026 Tang Prize Week will start in September, and the six winners will gather in Taiwan for exchanges

International heavyweight scholars will gather in Taiwan in September, and the 2026 "Tang Prize Week" will officially kick off today (3rd). Six winners of the 7th Tang Prize will come to Taiwan from September 18 to 23 to participate in the award ceremony, winners' speeches, master forums and youth dialogues; among them, the winners of the Biotechnology and Medicine Award and the Sustainability Award will go to high school and university campuses to communicate directly with Taiwan's young generation.

Chen Zhenchuan, CEO of the Tang Prize Education Foundation, said that the founder of the Tang Prize, Yin Yanliang, established the Tang Prize in 2012 with the hope of rewarding top research achievements and social practice. This year is the first "Tang Prize Week" since Yin Yanliang's death. In addition to sharing their research results, the six winners came to Taiwan, hoping to bring Taiwan's industry, government and academia into line with top international academic research.

On September 19, the "Tang Prize Winner Lecture" will be held at the Taipei Biotechnology Park, where the public can listen to the winners of the four major awards sharing their research results in one day; the "Tang Prize Biomedical Day" and the "Tang Prize Solomon Sustainability Day" will be held in Taipei and Kaohsiung respectively on September 21 and 22.

Three of the winners of the Biotechnology and Medicine Award, Steven Rosenberg, Michelle Sudland and Carl Joan, will jointly participate in the master forum at the National Taiwan University School of Medicine. Sudran and Joan will also go to the High School Affiliated to the National Normal University and Taipei Medical University to communicate with young people. Sustainability Award winner Susan Solomon will go to National Sun Yat-sen University to participate in the forum and talk with high school students from Kaohsiung Middle School, Kaohsiung Girls' High School, Tainan No. 1 Middle School, Chiayi High School and Chiayi Girls' High School.

Sinology Award winner Ge Zhaoguang and Rule of Law Award winner Bruce Ekman will also participate in master forums organized by National Taiwan Normal University and National Taiwan University respectively.

The "Tang Prize Glory Exhibition" will be on display at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall for free for two months starting today. With the theme of "Lighting Up the World with Wisdom", a digital "Tang Prize Think Tank" has been set up for the first time to collect the achievements of the 1st to 7th winners. Since the first exhibition at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in 2014, the cumulative number of visitors to related exhibitions has reached 2.9 million. From November 6 this year, the exhibition will be moved to the Kaohsiung Museum of Science and Technology for two years, and from December 10, it will be exhibited at the National Public Information Library in Taichung for one year.
