Taoyuan Futai Elementary School starts construction on new school building and holds relocation ceremony

Since Futai Elementary School has long had a campus area of less than 1 hectare and limited space for student activities. In order to solve the problems of old school buildings and small school sites, the city government decided to use the MRT project to relocate the school. The new school site is only 600 meters away from the original school site and covers an area of 2.1 hectares. A groundbreaking ceremony was held today.

Mayor Zhang Shanzheng said that Futai Elementary School is located on Zhongshan East Road and has been established for 61 years. It has long suffered from problems such as old school buildings and small school sites. Now it has been reborn through the MRT project. The future new school site is only 600 meters away from the original school site. It is adjacent to parks and residential areas to the east and Longfu Road to the west. It is a very high-quality school district; as for the original Futai Elementary School, it is located only 600 meters away from the original school site. The land can be developed for MRT land and a station entrance can be added. A total of three MRT joint developments can be carried out at the G28 station to improve the MRT transportation in the area, improve life functions, and create commercial corridors along the street and friendly people-oriented open spaces. It is also in line with TOD (Transport-Oriented Development, Transit-Oriented Development）概念。

MRT Project Director Liu Qingfeng said that the newly built Futai Elementary School has a total of 36 regular classrooms, 1 centralized special education class and 2 resource classes, 10 non-profit kindergartens, and a kitchen that can prepare lunches for 2,500 people.
