張善政市長表示，富台國小位於中山東路上、建校61年，長期飽受校舍老舊、校地狹小等問題，如今透過捷運工程重生，未來新校地距離原校地僅600公尺，東側鄰近公園與住宅區、西側鄰近龍福路，是很優質的學區；至於原富台國小土地可進行捷運土地開發，並增設車站車入口，在G28站共可進行3處捷運聯合開發，改善該地區捷運交通、完善生活機能，並創造沿街商業廊帶及友善人本開放空間，也符合TOD（大眾運輸導向發展、Transit-Oriented Development）概念。
