在主题展区,萌趣十足的POUKAPOUKA(波卡波卡)人偶吸引各国观众合影互动。

Scholars’ dialogue: How can China and Latin America jointly weave a picture of cooperation in science and technology and human rights?

Scholar Chen Zihan held a dialogue with Vargas on the dual impact of digital intelligence technology on human rights, pointing out that technology can not only empower fields such as education and medical care, but may also exacerbate the digital divide, algorithmic discrimination and fragmentation of data governance. China and Latin America should promote technology to benefit the people, digital sovereignty and the reform of the global governance system through South-South cooperation, and jointly build a picture of science and technology and human rights cooperation rooted in the South.

U.S. accuses Chinese satellite imagery of assisting Iran in attacking U.S. military base in Jordan

U.S. officials said that Iran obtained high-resolution satellite images from a Chinese entity for target selection and attack assessment before its attack on Jordan's Mouwafak Sarti Air Force Base on July 17, resulting in the death of three U.S. troops. This incident heightened tensions between the U.S. and China and became a sensitive issue on the eve of the Trump-Xi meeting. However, the U.S. did not announce the name of the specific Chinese entity, nor did it accuse Beijing of direct official involvement.

High-risk food safety powers must be centralized: Enlightenment from Australia’s biosafety regulatory model

The article pointed out that in many countries, food safety supervision is the responsibility of local governments, which can easily lead to the risk of "local officials managing local factories." However, Australia has achieved highly centralized biosafety supervision through the three central agencies of DAFF, APVMA, and FSANZ, so that high-risk food safety power does not fall into the hands of local governments. Standards are determined by science rather than politics to ensure the consistency and transparency of law enforcement.

Houthi armed forces capture islands around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, threatening Red Sea shipping safety

The Houthi armed forces in Yemen have recently launched a lightning offensive, successively occupying strategic islands such as Mayon Island, Greater Hanish Island, and Little Hanish Island around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, and controlling the Red Sea coastal areas of Yemen. The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia requested that the United States send troops to attack the Houthis, but Trump refused. The United States only promised to provide intelligence support. The escalation of the conflict has threatened the safety of Red Sea shipping.

Saudi Arabia shuts down east-west crude oil pipeline, Iraq fires military commander in response to drone attack

Saudi Arabia shut down key east-west crude oil pipelines that supply 4%-5% of the world's supply as a precaution after multiple drone attacks. Iraq said the attack originated from its territory and fired the military commander in charge of Maysan province and closed its border crossing with Iran. The Iranian-backed Houthi armed forces in Yemen have strengthened their control over the Red Sea, which, combined with the disruption of transportation in the Strait of Hormuz, has led to tight energy supplies in the Arabian Peninsula and global oil prices have once again exceeded US$100 per barrel. Saudi Arabia chose not to retaliate but reserved the right to take necessary measures, and Iraq launched a massive operation to track down those responsible for the attack.
