The 2026 Hericium Industry Development Conference kicks off in Hailin, Heilongjiang, and Hericium enters the Hong Kong and Macao markets

China News Service, Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang, September 13 (Reporter Shi Yifu) The 2026 Hericium Mushroom Industry Development Conference with the theme of "Joy Hailin and Taste Mountain Treasures" kicked off on the 13th in Hailin City, Heilongjiang Province. The 2025 Hericium industry development report released at the meeting stated that Hericium has entered the Hong Kong and Macau markets. Many parties signed contracts on site to promote this Northeastern delicacy to move towards the entire industry chain and the great health track.

Hailin City is located in the golden growth zone of Hericium at 45º north latitude. In 2007, it was awarded the title of "Hometown of Hericium in China" by the China Edible Fungi Association. Up to now, there are 5,000 standardized mushroom sheds and 5 standardized mushroom bag factories. The total annual cultivation volume of Hericium has remained at 150 million bags, and the output of fresh mushrooms is 75,000 tons, making it the largest concentrated production base of Hericium in China. The annual output value of the Hericium industry has stabilized at 450 million yuan (RMB, the same below), boosting the per capita income of farmers in the region by 5,000 yuan.

Hailin Municipal Party Committee Secretary Zhang Hongpeng said at the meeting that at present, Hericium products have been promoted to enter the Hong Kong and Macau markets, and the "Hericium Base for Hong Kong" was launched and completed that year. Hailin Hericium products are deeply loved by local consumers.

This conference simultaneously released the large model and genome research results of Hericium erinaceus, and carried out technical discussions focusing on the breeding of improved varieties and the transformation of medicinal value. Multiple rounds of industry signings were completed at the conference, involving health product research and development, big data center co-construction, agricultural waste resource utilization and other fields.

Faced with practical problems such as insufficient deep processing and limited brand premiums, Hailin City proposed to promote the collaborative innovation of "government, industry, academia, research and application" to expand high value-added tracks such as health care products and cosmetics. At the same time, it will leverage the integration of live broadcast e-commerce and agriculture, culture and tourism to expand market space and inject industrial momentum into rural revitalization.
