Woman shot in the head in Sofielund - man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

On Sunday night, the police were called to an address in Sofielund due to a suspected assault. A woman was found with a gunshot wound at the scene.

- She has been shot in the head, but the shot has not damaged vital organs. She has been heard by the police, says Jakob Palmgren, press spokesperson at police region South, and adds that the woman is now being treated in hospital.

The police state that the woman's condition is stable.

When the police arrived at the residence, the suspected perpetrator had left the address. He was later arrested and is now suspected of attempted murder and aggravated weapons offences.

The man is already familiar with the victim, but exactly what relationship they have to each other is being investigated by the police. Both the man and the woman are in their 30s.

- We classify it as an isolated incident, says Palmgren.

Someone must have heard that the woman screamed for help at the time she was injured and then alerted the police.

Police technicians have been at the crime scene during the morning to secure evidence.

- It is unclear whether they found the weapon, says Palmgren.
