According to Yeosu City in Jeollanam-do on the 27th, the city recently received 17 requests for data submission from 11 members of the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee and the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee.

This is a request received through the Jeollanam-do Gwangju Unified Special City, and the amount will increase if data to be submitted directly by the unified city is included.

It is known that the lawmakers requested information such as the status of overseas training for public officials related to the Island Expo, which was pointed out in the media, and the basis for the estimate of the target number of visitors of 3 million.

Lawmakers are also understanding how the budget, which was KRW 24.8 billion when the Ministry of Strategy and Finance approved the international event, increased to a total of KRW 180 billion, including direct project expenses of KRW 71.3 billion and linked project expenses, as well as the execution status.

Many of them are People Power Party members, and it is expected that an offensive will be launched criticizing the poor preparation and response of the central and local governments.

A battle between the ruling and opposition parties was predicted at the National Assembly audit of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security on the 6th of next month and the integrated city on the 22nd of the same month.

An official from Yeosu City said, “It is a bit embarrassing because the island expo and the government inspection period overlap, but we will faithfully provide the requested data.” He added, “We hope that you will show interest and support until the end (November 4th).”
