The progress of the China-Jetg Blue Line raises questions from MPs. The Czech Industrial Bureau: Work towards completion in 2034

The progress of the China-Jet Blue Line has attracted much attention. City councilors Lin Deyu, Zeng Wei and Cai Yaojie of the Democratic Progressive Party criticized the Taichung Jiji Industrial Bureau in the city council today for organizing many activities for the China-Jet Blue Line. However, the fact is that the Longjing Machinery Factory of the Blue Line, which is said to have started construction last year, has not even built a machine room. The track project has failed to meet the standards and the progress of the project is basically zero. It is impossible to question whether it will be opened to traffic in 2034.

Su Ruiwen, director of the JMTC, said that efforts will be made to complete the project in 2034. The JMTC Bureau pointed out that the Blue Line Longjing Machinery Factory has started construction on June 26, 2025, and has completed preliminary surveys, geological drilling, engineering fencing and plant transplantation, and is in the process of reducing runoff wastewater and waste removal; the EMU has now completed the appearance design, and is conducting appearance voting activities with reference to domestic MRT experience. The construction of various road sections continues to advance. This year, all the elevated sections of the Sea Line have been contracted out. Among them, the pipeline relocation of the Wuqi elevated section near the Taichung Harbor Chitung General Hospital has started.

City councilors Lin Deyu and Cai Yaojie both said that the progress of the MRT project has repeatedly been idle. According to the Central Government Project Progress Inquiry System, the progress status of all four MRT Blue Line project procurements is "not yet started", including Longjing in 2025. The project contracting status of the machine factory and electromechanical system is "not yet started"; 2 bids for the 2026 MRT Blue Line civil engineering and electromechanical projects are also "not yet started", and the progress of the track turnkey project is 0. Because the bid was missed, it is also "not yet started".

City Councilor Zeng Wei said that it has been one year and three months since the groundbreaking ceremony of the MRT Blue Line was held in June last year, but there is still a significant gap between the actual project progress and citizens' expectations. He pointed out that the main work that has been completed includes planting and transplanting, and time will be invested in waste cleanup in the future. It is expected that further land preparation will be carried out by the end of next year. This raises questions about when the Blue Line will truly enter the full construction stage. Extrapolating from the current progress, can the MRT Blue Line really be opened to traffic as scheduled in 2034?

The MRT Engineering Bureau stated that the entire 24.78-kilometer track project of the Blue Line is undergoing bidding and selection. The elevated-to-underground and excavated sections connecting to the Longjing Machinery Factory have also been invited online for bidding. The remaining underground sections are planned to open bids starting in 2027.
