The bill that will make March 21, Newroz, a public holiday will be submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly in October.

Preparations have been completed for the bill proposal submitted to the public by the AKP, which aims to consider the March 21 Nevruz Holiday as a public holiday.

If the regulation becomes law, the new holiday application for employees and students will come into effect as of March 21, 2027, and the total official leave period will increase to 16.5 days.

The legal infrastructure works, which were initiated in line with the instructions given by AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to the party staff last year, have been completed.

The draft text, which AKP Deputy Chairman Kürşad Zorlu announced in April that it had reached the final stage, will be presented to the members of parliament for approval in October, when the Turkish Grand National Assembly will begin the new legislative year.

The proposal is expected to be among the first articles of the new legislative term.
