The Houthis announce the launch of two drone attacks on Najran Airport and Saudi Aramco

The Iranian-backed Yemeni Houthi group announced on Thursday that it had launched two drone attacks on Saudi Arabia, targeting what it described as a “sensitive target” at Najran Airport and a facility belonging to the giant Saudi oil company “Aramco” also in Najran.

The armed group said that the attacks came in response to a Saudi violation of "the airspace of Saada Governorate with drones."

There was no immediate confirmation from Saudi Arabia, the main backer of Yemeni government forces.

This announcement came shortly after the Yemeni Armed Forces announced that they had carried out “81 operations” against Houthi targets during the past 24 hours, in light of the escalation of mutual attacks between the Yemeni army and the Iranian-backed armed group.

The fighting intensified recently after the Houthi group announced a blockade on Saudi shipping traffic in the Red Sea in late July.
