The 2026 Mayoral Candidates Youth Forum event was launched by youth groups such as the Taiwan Youth Thought Association, the Taiwan Federation of Students, the Taiwan Yidianyou Education Association, the Taiwan Youth Democracy Association, the Humanities and Social Sciences Society of Tsinghua University (Hsinchu Field), the Transportation Student Association of Yangming Jiaotong University (Hsinchu Field), and the Hsinchu Field originally wanted to Three mayoral candidates including Gao Hongan, Zhuang Jingcheng and He Zhiyong were invited to a public debate, and then decided to hold discussions with the mayoral candidates in three stages over three days in the form of "Mayor, May I Ask?". It is known that Zhuang Jingcheng and He Zhiyong have agreed to attend the meeting, but Gao Hongan's campaign headquarters stated that they had not received any invitation and would not attend.

This Mayoral Candidate Youth Forum is co-sponsored by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences of Tsing University and Yangming Jiaotong University. It is currently scheduled to have a discussion with Zhuang Jingcheng on September 22 and a discussion with He Zhiyong on September 24. The venue will be in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of Tsing University. It is hoped that through a face-to-face method, cross-party candidates will be invited to explain the policy blueprint, listen to the opinions of young people, communicate face-to-face, and jointly shape the future possibilities of governance. At the same time, we gather the power of youth groups and local student unions to create key dialogues between candidates and young citizens, so that young people are not absent from the planning of local governance.

The Youth Forum activity was launched because Hsinchu City is a century-old city and a city with a high concentration of Taiwan's science and technology industry and higher education resources. Urban development is not only related to cultural strength and industrial competitiveness, but also directly affects the daily lives of students, young workers and young families.

For young people, it is about whether they can study, work, start a family and live in this city safely. Therefore, Hsinchu Field will invite mayoral candidates to directly respond to local issues of concern to young people, explain their imagination and specific policies for the future development of Hsinchu, and promote more substantive public discussions between candidates and young citizens through questions from student self-government organizations, youth groups, experts and scholars, and on-site participants.
