Vučić announced the appointment of parliamentary elections in Serbia for October 25

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on television that on Wednesday he would sign a decree dissolving the Assembly (parliament) and setting the date of parliamentary elections for October 25.

The leadership of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SPP) voted in early September for the current president to become a candidate for the post of head of the Serbian government in the upcoming parliamentary elections. The government then delivered to Vučić a proposal to dissolve parliament and set a date for elections.

“I will announce the decision on this tomorrow, exactly at 12.00 (13.00 Moscow time). The elections will be held on October 25,” the Serbian President said on TV Pink.

Vucic said earlier that after the elections he expects the current policy to continue. The President of Serbia said on June 30 following a meeting with ambassadors of EU member states that his country continues to follow the path to EU membership and carry out relevant reforms.
