The funeral of Alexander Kuzmenko, the father of hockey player Andrei Kuzmenko from the Pittsburgh Penguins, will take place no earlier than September 28 in Khimki near Moscow.

On September 22, the hockey player’s father died as a result of a bear attack in the Todzhinsky district of Tuva.

The body of the deceased will be transported on Sunday; his son is expected to be present at the funeral.

The funeral of Alexander Kuzmenko, the father of the National Hockey League (NHL) Pittsburgh Penguins forward Andrei Kuzmenko, will take place no earlier than September 28 in Khimki near Moscow, RIA Novosti was told at the National Hockey Center, where the coach worked.

On Thursday, the head of the State Committee for Fishing and Hunting Supervision of Tuva, Artysh Salchak, told RIA Novosti about the death of a tourist from Moscow as a result of a bear attack; the tragic incident occurred on September 22. A group of seven people, despite the ban on visiting forests, took a boat up the Yenisei and settled in the remote taiga of the Todzha region. The bear attacked one of the tourists, who received severe facial injuries. The tourist was taken by air ambulance to the republican hospital, where he died at the age of 62. Later it became known that Kuzmenko’s father was killed.

“The funeral will be in Khimki no earlier than Monday, this is 100%. The body will be transported on Sunday. The son will be present, they are waiting for him,” the National Hockey Center said.
