Search for missing Korean employee due to massive flood in Nepal... Manpower deployment from South-East Power and Doosan Energy

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporters Jang Ha-na and Shin Chang-yong = Korea South-East Power and Doosan Energy are continuing on-site searches to find nine Korean employees who went missing due to the massive floods in Nepal.

According to the local corporate response team on the 6th, Korea South-East Power is deploying 4 land search teams, a total of 46 people, to search the mountainous area around the accident site.

Until the 4th, 25 people were divided into two teams, and the number of onshore search personnel was nearly doubled by recruiting additional local personnel.

The land search force consisted of Sherpas who were familiar with the local terrain.

An official from Korea South-East Power Company said, “We are conducting a search operation focusing on mountainous areas, hoping that the missing people may have evacuated to high ground at the time of the accident.”

Korea South-East Power is also conducting search operations using drones equipped with special thermal imaging and infrared cameras and search dogs.

On this day, Doosan Energy flew a helicopter and two drones to intensively search the main camp (accommodation and office building) of the hydroelectric power plant and the downstream area.

Previously, on the 26th of last month, a major flood occurred in the Rasuwa area of ​​Bagmati Province, Nepal, and hit the construction site of the Upper Trishuli (UT)-1 hydroelectric power plant.

As a result of this accident, 9 Korean workers, including 6 Doosan Energy employees and 3 South East Power employees, who were at the scene, went missing.
