After seizing a Chinese fishing vessel for cross-border operations yesterday (September 30), the Eighth (Penghu) Coast Guard seized a Chinese fishing vessel for cross-border trawling operations in the northwest waters of Xiyu Island today (1st). It carried out maritime inspection duties in accordance with the law for two consecutive days, demonstrating the coast patrol's strict determination to enforce the law. It is worth noting that the two consecutive fishing vessels were Chinese Guangdong-registered fishing vessels, which is different from previous Chinese Fujian-registered fishing vessels.

An investigation by the Eighth (Penghu) Coast Guard found that the PP-3503 boat was performing maritime patrol duties at 10 a.m. today and discovered a Chinese Guangdong-registered fishing vessel in the waters about 19.6 miles northwest of Xiyu Island. It was conducting illegal trawling operations in my country's restricted waters. The PP-3503 boat immediately broadcast and blew its whistle to request that the ship be stopped for inspection.

Although the Chinese patrol boat blew its whistle three times, the Chinese fishing boat ignored it. In the end, the patrol boat successfully boarded the boat at 10:5 a.m. and quickly controlled the people on board. It was confirmed that there were 7 Chinese crew members on board. After clearing the cabin, about 850 kilograms of fish were seized. The fishing boat involved has been escorted back to Magong Port and will be punished in accordance with the "Regulations on Relations between the People of the Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area".

The Coast Guard's Kinmapeng Branch stated that coast guard personnel are on the front line of the sea area day and night throughout the year, continue to implement various maritime patrols and inspection services, and fully shoulder the three security tasks of "national security, public security, and safety" to protect the safety of Penghu waters and the rights and interests of fishermen; for illegal activities such as cross-border operations by Chinese fishing boats, the Coast Guard will continue to strictly enforce the law in accordance with the law to ensure order in my country's waters. We also urge fishermen to call the Coast Guard's "118" service hotline immediately if they discover suspected border crossing or other unusual situations while working at sea, and the Coast Guard will quickly dispatch patrol boats to deal with the situation.
