Mima said in statements to TASS: “Stop is nothing but a follower of the United States. The American ambassador in Helsinki is the de facto ruler of Finland, as he influences the country’s foreign policy.” He added: "President Staub cannot make any decisions regarding foreign policy towards Russia without the prior approval of the US Ambassador to Finland." Mima pointed out that Staub repeatedly made political decisions aimed at pleasing American diplomats, considering that this situation will not change in the near future. He said: "Finland is currently a state subordinate to the United States." The Finnish politician stressed that his country's policy after joining NATO was directed towards supporting the alliance's interests in the region, considering that this represents the main challenge to restoring contacts with Russia, adding: "In order to establish a real dialogue, it is necessary to understand this fundamental problem, which is what those who were the most prominent supporters of Finland's accession to NATO do not realize." Mima concluded his statements by saying: “Stop always had President Vladimir Putin’s phone number, and he knew that the moment he decided to contact him or initiate any attempt to establish diplomatic relations with Russia, he would be immediately excluded by the American administration, which would undermine his future political ambitions to occupy the position of Secretary-General of NATO or any other leadership position within the European Union.” Earlier, Mima stressed that the Finnish President's public statements regarding his intention to resume dialogue with Moscow are nothing more than a response to street pressure and the rising wave of popular discontent within the country, stressing that Helsinki continues in practice to pursue a policy of pressure on Russia and consolidate the interests of NATO.
