It is worth noting that the Ministry of National Defense has carried out this exercise that has been implemented since last year on a regular basis and included it in the first part of the "Trilogy of Military Training" planned for the first time.
That is to say, before the joint defense exercise in July this year and the "Hanguang 42" real-force exercise in August, we will focus on the transition from peacetime to wartime and combat readiness, and hone the rapid deployment and response capabilities of grassroots troops.
The Chinese military considers that the People's Liberation Army, Coast Guard and others will carry out "grey zone harassment" against our country, which means that the distinction between peacetime and wartime will become more blurred and the response time will be shorter. Therefore, it first implemented the "immediate war preparation exercise" for the first time last year, and then normalized the exercise this year.
According to the plan of the Ministry of National Defense, the immediate combat preparation exercise adopts the method of "actual troops, on-the-spot, real-time, actual installation, and actual execution". Each combat area will implement subjects such as troop maneuvers, tactical positioning, protection of important targets, command and control operations, and logistics support according to the characteristics of the defense area.
Therefore, the Army's 269th Brigade's Clouded Leopard Armored Vehicles stationed in the Qingpu area of Taoyuan today falls within the scope of exercise verification.
As the Ministry of National Defense has adjusted its joint operations plan, it has added "war preparation deployment" and "secondary and first-level enhanced alert" during the regular combat readiness period. It has also added "joint anti-landing and coastal strikes", "beach and shore combat" and "depth defense and protracted operations" during the defensive operations period.
Military sources explained that the immediate war preparation drill is to conduct actual training for the war preparation deployment and strengthening alert stages, focusing on the preparation work on the eve of the outbreak of war.
For the first time this year, the Ministry of National Defense will conduct actual military training in the summer in a "trilogy" format.
Military sources said that the "Joint Defense Exercise" implemented for the first time mainly tests the joint combat command mechanism and the collaborative operation capabilities of various services. The "Hanguang 42" actual military exercise will further verify subjects such as joint fire strikes, air defense operations, anti-landing operations, defense in depth and persistent operations, and verify reserve mobilization and social resilience mechanisms.
