Chinese and Brazilian universities build a new platform for collaboration in marine and agricultural scientific research

China News Service, Harbin, October 15 (Reporter Shi Yifu) 2026 coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan. The sixth meeting of the "China-Pakistan Economic Corridor University Alliance" exchange mechanism was held at Harbin Engineering University on the 15th. More than 120 representatives from more than 40 universities and scientific research institutions in China and Pakistan discussed the cooperation and development of higher education between the two countries in the new era.

The meeting released the "Annual Development Report of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor University Alliance Exchange Mechanism", which systematically reviewed the alliance's progress in cooperation network construction, talent training, joint scientific research and cultural exchanges since 2025, and summarized cooperation experience in key areas such as artificial intelligence, agriculture, mining, marine information, and public health.

会议首次在联盟交流机制下探索成立专业领域集群。 The special research cluster on marine information, led by Harbin Engineering University and Bahria University, and the special research cluster on agriculture, food security and biotechnology, led by Zhejiang University, Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University, Multan University of Agriculture in Pakistan, and Peshawar Agricultural University, were simultaneously established to focus on areas of common concern between China and Pakistan, such as marine information, agricultural development, information technology, and public health, to promote joint scientific research and collaborative innovation with higher quality.

The launch ceremony of Pakistan's "China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)" high-level postgraduate scientific visiting project was held at the meeting, which builds a regular channel for Pakistani graduate students to come to China to carry out scientific research visits and joint training; Harbin Engineering University signed an inter-school education cooperation agreement with Pakistani universities, and also released the list of new member universities in the "China-Pakistan Economic Corridor University Alliance" exchange mechanism.
