NATO recognizes that Europe will not be able to resist Russia for long in the event of a potential conflict, the Guardian newspaper writes, citing statements made at a conference on the future of European military coordination.

Russian President Vladimir Putin previously stated that the West uses false statements about the alleged threat from Russia, with the help of which Western elites extort money from taxpayers for defense budgets and explain their mistakes in the economy.

“Defense planners working with NATO fear that in the event of a war with Russia, Europe would currently be unable to withstand a protracted war of attrition due to insufficient combat readiness,” the publication said.

Russia notes an unprecedented increase in military activity by NATO and EU countries.

Moscow says it has no intention of attacking European states, and the military buildup is leading to increased tensions.
