Man arrested for collecting rare creatures in the intertidal zone of Houbi Lake in Kenting

Recently, tourists in the intertidal zone around Houbi Lake in Kenting National Park were shocked to see a man ignoring the regulations of the reserve and hunting down precious coral reef creatures.

Tourists witnessed the man reaching out to various intertidal creatures, fearing that even the colorful and precious Tridacna clams would be "poisoned", so they hurriedly reported it to the police.

After receiving the report, the Eighth Brigade of the Seventh Security Corps did not dare to be careless and quickly sent personnel to the scene to investigate. All the stolen goods were found on the spot, and the man surnamed Jiang was transferred to justice.

The crime occurred in the intertidal zone of Daguang Beach in Houbi Lake, which is rich in ecology. This area falls within the scope of the National Park Reserve, and picking and hunting of any living creatures is strictly prohibited.

On that day, the man surnamed Jiang ignored obvious ecological conservation warnings and ignored the strange looks of tourists around him. He regarded nature's treasures as his own, and casually stuffed the collected snails and sea urchins into his bag.

After receiving the report, the police from the Houbihu team of the Eighth Brigade of the Baoqi Corps immediately rushed to the scene to conduct an investigation.

Faced with the police's strong law enforcement, Jiang Nan was speechless on the spot. The bag he carried was filled with the victim organisms that had just been peeled off the reef.

The police immediately conducted a video search for evidence of Jiang Nan's illegal behavior, and issued a bill on the spot for violating the National Park Law.

The police pointed out that all organisms in Kenting National Park are protected by law, and any harvesting behavior is illegal. The ecological environment around Houbi Lake is extremely fragile, especially the precious Tridacna clams, which grow slowly. Once they are damaged by humans, they will not only cause ecological imbalance, but may also face an irreparable situation.

The police emphasized that people should adhere to the concept of "leaving nothing but footprints and taking nothing except photography" when recreating in national parks. They should not take chances and try to take the law personally.

The man surnamed Jiang who was seized this time was not only issued a ticket and reported on the spot, but the police subsequently sent a letter to the Reclamation Management Office for disciplinary action.

The Reclamation Management Office also stated that it will increase the intensity of patrols in hot spots in the future, severely punish any bad behavior that damages the ecology, and calls on the public to jointly protect this beautiful marine home.
