Chinese pandas Pingping and Fushuang are heading to Zoo Atlanta for ten years

Chinese giant pandas Pingping and Fushuang have traveled from Chengdu, China to the United States, where they will spend the next ten years at Zoo Atlanta. This was reported by China Central Television.

Male Pingping and female Fushuang took off from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport on September 27 at 02:55 local time. Before leaving, a farewell ceremony was held for the animals at the Giant Panda Research and Breeding Center in Chengdu.

For the flight, Chinese specialists prepared a supply of fresh bamboo and shoots, as well as apples and medicines. Before the trip, the pandas underwent special adaptation to transportation. After arriving in the United States, the animals will have to undergo quarantine. Moreover, Chinese specialists will remain in Atlanta for the first time to help the pandas adapt to new conditions.

The move was part of a new stage in the Chinese-American giant panda conservation program. The agreement provides for ten years of cooperation in the field of animal breeding, disease prevention, scientific research and protection of their natural habitat.
