Taiyuan holds roundtable forum for foreign-invested enterprises to focus on green energy transformation

China News Service, Taiyuan, September 4 (Reporter Li Tingyao) On the afternoon of the 4th, as one of the five international conferences of the 2026 Taiyuan Energy Low-Carbon Development Forum, the "Invest in China Dialogue with Shanxi" foreign-invested enterprise roundtable forum was held in Taiyuan, Shanxi.

The forum was hosted by the Shanxi Provincial Department of Commerce with the theme of "Green Cooperation and Sustained Transformation". It focused on international cooperation in green energy transformation and jointly discussed the path and prospects of green and low-carbon energy development. It conducted exchanges around five themes: green technology of advantageous energy, green value-added of biomass energy, stable and sustainable supply of green power parks, industrial vision in the context of dual carbon, and green finance to help industrial transformation.

In 2025, the net profits of foreign-invested enterprises in Shanxi Province will reach 6.33 billion yuan, and the profits distributed by foreign shareholders will reach 3.54 billion yuan. Li Guorong, deputy director of the Shanxi Provincial Department of Commerce, said that the energy field has always been an important area for Shanxi to attract foreign investment.

Shanxi's advanced coal production capacity accounts for 83%, green power delivery volume has ranked first in the country for two consecutive years, and new energy and clean energy installed capacity has accounted for 50%. New energy industries such as coal bed methane, hydrogen energy, photovoltaics, wind power equipment, and new energy storage account for more than 80% of foreign investment.

During the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, Shanxi will continue to promote the green and low-carbon transformation and development of energy, build a new energy system, and plan 1,594 major projects with a total investment of 4.6 trillion yuan, providing investors with broad space for cooperation and development.

At the forum, Li Guorong solemnly invited foreign entrepreneurs to cooperate in the fields of new energy and green development, advanced manufacturing and other industries, the digital economy and artificial intelligence, and the service industry.

Li Guorong said that he expected foreign-funded enterprises to carry out technology research and development, equipment manufacturing and project investment cooperation in the entire hydrogen energy industry chain, as well as wind power, photovoltaic, energy storage and other new energy fields. He hoped that foreign-funded enterprises would provide applicable solutions in digitalization and intelligence. He sincerely welcomed foreign-funded enterprises to use Shanxi as a production base or regional headquarters to enter the Chinese market, and innovatively integrate with Shanxi's markets, products and scenarios to stimulate greater industrial complementary advantages.
