Korea Sepak Takraw Women's Team Legu National Team Wins Silver Medal for 3rd Consecutive Asian Games

The Korean Sepak Takraw women's team, Legu, won a silver medal for the third consecutive time in the Asian Games.

The national team lost to Thailand with a lego score of 0-2 in the Sepak Takraw women's team lego final of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games held at the Mizuho Park Gymnasium in Nagoya, Japan on the 25th.

Korea, which won silver medals in this event at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games and the 2022 Hangzhou Games, ranked second on the podium for three consecutive times.

Thailand, the world's best, has won the championship five times in a row since the 2010 Guangzhou Games.

Team regu is a team event in which each team forms three regu (groups of three) and competes to determine the winner. Four teams, including Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, and Japan, participated in this tournament.

Korea ranked second in the preliminaries with 2 wins and 1 loss, and advanced to the finals by winning 2-0 in the semifinals against Indonesia, which ranked third.

Korea, which lost 0-3 to Thailand in the third round of the preliminary round of this tournament, was unable to overcome the power gap in the finals.

In the first leg, Korea lost with a set score of 0-2 (13-15 5-15) with striker Han Ye-ji (Busan Environmental Corporation), feeder Lee Min-ju (Busan Environmental Corporation), who is similar to a volleyball setter, and goalkeeper Choi Jina (Gyeongbuk Provincial Office), who mainly serves, playing.

The first set was a close match. At 7-10, he scored three consecutive points to tie the score, and at 11-11, the opponent's attack hit the net and he succeeded in turning the score around.

However, at 13-12, Han Ye-ji's attack was caught in the net and she conceded a point. Afterwards, she was unable to block the opposing team's attacks and serves, giving up the first set.

The second set was one-sided. At the beginning of the set, the score was tied 0-4, and the team lost momentum for a moment.

While blocking at 2-5, Lee Min-ju fell down after being hit by a ball on the back of his neck and lost consciousness for a moment.

The 2nd leg, in which striker Kim Se-young (Chungnam Sports Council), feeder Bae Han-ul (Incheon City Sports Council), and tager Wi Ji-seon (Incheon City Sports Council) participated, also gave up the set score 0-2 (7-15 6-15).

Korea was close by a point at the beginning of the second set, but the score gap widened as they conceded consecutive goals at 4-5.

At 5-7, they lost three consecutive goals due to a serve error and lost momentum in their pursuit.
