救援人員迅速使用破壞器材進行搜救，將受困婦人拉出車外時，發現其已無生命跡象，救護人員當場施作 CPR心肺復甦術並使用AED急救，隨後分別將這對夫妻送往彰化基督教醫院全力搶救。不過婦人經搶救後仍因傷重宣告不治，丈夫無生命危險，夫妻倆因這起車禍天人永隔。

現場車禍原因與是否有酒駕、超速或未保持安全距離等狀況，仍待國道警方進一步採證調查釐清。警方也提醒，國道施工路段務必減速慢行並保持安全車距，以免釀成無法挽回的悲劇。
