All sections of Daegu Metro Line 3 suspended due to power supply failure

Citizens are experiencing great inconvenience as operations on Daegu Metro Line 3 have been disrupted, with the entire section halted at one point due to a power supply failure.

At 7:38 p.m. on the 7th, all sections of Daegu Metro Line 3 were suspended.

Daegu Transportation Corporation determined that a power supply failure occurred due to an equipment problem in the section between Suseong Market Station and Children's World Station.

However, the exact cause, such as whether the equipment itself was malfunctioning, has not been confirmed.

At the time of the power outage, there were 9 trains running on Line 3. The trains in question activated their spare power immediately after the power outage and all arrived at nearby stations, where passengers got off safely.

No rescue reports due to power outage were received by the police or fire authorities.

When train operations were suspended, the Daegu Transportation Corporation sent out a safety information text message, saying, "Please use other means of transportation if you use Line 3."

The Transportation Corporation resumed operations only between Chilgok-Kyungdae Hospital Station and Dalseong Park Station (both directions) from 8:10 p.m. on this day.

This measure was taken because there is a track switch connecting the two tracks near Dalseong Park Station, allowing trains to change direction.

The Korea Transportation Corporation plans to determine the exact cause of the power outage starting around midnight, after all Line 3 operations ended that day.

However, as the first train runs at 5:30 a.m., depending on the situation, there is a possibility that it will be difficult to resume normal operation on the morning of the 8th.

An official from the Daegu Transportation Corporation said, “Meetings on countermeasures are in progress,” and “the time for resumption of operations has not yet been determined.”

Line 3, which opened as the first monorail in the country in April 2015, had its entire section suspended for a time in October 2018 due to some equipment problems, but returned to normal after 11 hours.
