Shrimp fishing boat lost in Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture; 3 people, including the captain, died.

Around 7:50 a.m. on the 3rd, the Miyazaki Coast Guard received a report from the Nango Fisheries Cooperative in Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture, stating that a boat that had gone out to fish for shrimp had not returned. When a Japan Coast Guard patrol boat and a fishing boat searched the area, they found three people at sea, including a 76-year-old captain of the Shintoku Maru (0.9 tons) belonging to the fisheries association. According to the Japan Coast Guard and Nichinan City Fire Department, both were found in a state of cardiac arrest and later pronounced dead.

According to the Japan Coast Guard, the three people were found about 1 km off the coast of Sotoura Port in Nichinan City. The fishing boat has not been found.

According to the Nango Fisheries Association, there were three people on board the Shintokumaru, including the captain. They left the port at around 2 a.m. on the 3rd to fish for spiny lobster in Miyazaki Prefecture, which opened on September 1st, and were scheduled to return early in the morning. A representative from the fisheries association said, ``Although the typhoon affected the area, we heard from the boat that was fishing that it was not a large barge.''

At the time, a sea wind warning was issued for the Hyuga-nada Sea, with waves measuring 1 meter in height and swells of 1.5 meters.
