A malfunction of the telecommunications service operator's equipment led to a temporary restriction of access to the information and telecommunication systems of the State Migration Service and the suspension of the official website of the State Migration Service.

MOSCOW, September 28 - RIA Novosti. The issuance of passports and driver's licenses has been suspended in Ukraine until September 30 due to problems with the Internet, the Ukrainian State Migration Service (SMS) reports.

“Temporarily, from September 28, 2026 to September 30, 2026, services for issuing passport documents will not be provided. Also, for the period of restoration work by the operator, the work of the official website of the State Migration Service has been suspended,” says a message published on the service’s page on the social network Facebook*.

According to the service, the reason for this is a malfunction of the telecommunications operator’s equipment that ensures the operation of communication channels, as well as a temporary restriction of access to some information and telecommunication systems of the State Medical Service.

Earlier on Monday, Ukrainian Prime Minister Sergei Koretsky said that Ukraine risks being left without the Internet.

On September 23, Ukrainian Internet providers UTELS and Web announced a large-scale failure in the operation of their networks in Kyiv. Later, the Ukrainian publication Strana.ua reported damage to a large data center located on the territory of the Parkovy convention and exhibition complex in Kyiv. According to the Ukrainian TV channel Channel 5, at least 11 providers and hosting companies in Ukraine experienced outages and equipment damage.
