Heavy rains and storm risk in Istanbul: 2 thousand 117 notifications received

According to the statement made by AKOM, the rainfall, which was effective in the form of showers and occasionally heavy showers throughout Istanbul until the morning hours, was measured in the range of 20 to 107 kilograms per square meter in different parts of the city.

The most rainfall was observed in Çekmeköy, Pendik, Sarıyer, Kartal and Beykoz districts.

It is estimated that the rain, which is light at intervals during the day, will increase its effect as of 20.00 in the evening, and will be heavy in places throughout the province after midnight.

The cold and rainy weather is expected to continue locally and locally until the evening hours (20.00) on Wednesday.

During this period, it is predicted that there may be 40-100 kilograms/square meter of rainfall throughout the province, 60-120 kilograms/square meter in the northern districts, especially in Çatalca, Arnavutköy, Eyüpsultan, Sarıyer, Beykoz, Çekmeköy and Şile, and over 150 kilograms/square meter in some places.

In these days, when humidity levels reach particularly high levels due to the effect of the north wind, which carries humid air to the region over the Black Sea, it is estimated that storms and heavy thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms may occur due to the coldness of the upper levels of the atmosphere and the relatively warmness of the sea and land surfaces.

According to AKOM records, since the beginning of the rains, a total of 2 thousand 117 reports have been received in Istanbul about issues such as floods, ponding, manhole overflows, road collapses, falling trees and falling dangerous parts.

IMM teams are ready throughout the province with 6 thousand 722 personnel, 2 thousand 199 vehicles and work machines against the negativities that may occur due to strong showers and storms.
