Waternet organized a coastal cleaning event in Caddebostan and collected 4,450 cigarette butts

In the event, which was held to contribute to the protection of coastal and marine ecosystems, waste accumulated at different points along the Caddebostan coast was collected. Reaching 4,450 cigarette butts in just a few hours also revealed the amount of waste created by daily consumption habits in coastal areas. The event aimed to draw attention to the importance of cleaning the coasts as well as reducing waste at its source before it reaches nature.

Waternet Marketing Director Naz Günaçar said the following about the event:

"We carried out our Coastal Cleaning event for the third time this year. We see this work not as a one-time event, but as an ongoing part of our responsibility towards the environment. The 44 kilograms of waste and especially the 4,450 cigarette butts we collected in Caddebostan show very concretely how big a trace our daily habits can leave on nature. As Waternet, we care about raising awareness on this issue in our environment and making a concrete contribution by taking action together with our Kindness Ambassadors."

According to Waternet data, the use of a single water purification device can contribute to the prevention of the generation of an average of 101 kilograms of plastic waste per year.
