When sewage water overflowed into buildings after a heavy rain in Ankara, citizens started cleaning work.

The heavy rain, which started around 00:00 in Ankara, was effective in the city center. Due to the heavy rain, garbage was scattered on the roads. In Keçiören district Çiçekli District Gülgün Street, sewage water overflowed into the apartments. The ground floors of the apartment buildings were filled with sewage water. Citizens mobilized to remove sewage water from their buildings.

Neighborhood residents, who tried to evacuate the dirty water that flooded their buildings under intense odor, with their own means, stated that they were victims of the disruption and inadequacy of infrastructure works. Burak Adaçoğlu, who lives on Gülgün Street, stated that they have been experiencing infrastructure-related problems such as floods and road collapses on their streets for a long time.

Adaçoğlu criticized ASKİ's working approach and said, "Today, we have been cleaning the sewage water in our house since 12 in the evening. But when the election time comes, 'We are here. We will work for you. We came for you. We exist'. For God's sake, don't be. My clothes are soaked with sewage water. One of my slippers is gone, thank God. Thank God, the neighbors gave me the second one. My back is covered in sweat, and I am at home with a 40-degree fever, a 16-month-old boy. "I left my child just to clean the sewage water inside my building. Thank you, they came from ASKİ, they removed the water, 'Our job is done, we are leaving'. 10 minutes later, the rain increased again and the manhole filled again," he said.

Adaçoğlu stated that his back was drenched in sweat and that he had to go to work in the morning and said, "I will clean the manhole again, it will rain again, it will fill up again. They told us, 'The company that won the tender will come in 15 minutes, it will open the manhole. No one comes or goes. No one asks, there is nothing. For God's sake, do not victimize the citizens this much. It is 5 in the morning, I am cleaning the sewer here and I will get up at 07.30 in the morning and go to work. I am a private sector worker." "I'm human. If I don't go to work, the man will cut off my wages. It's a shame, isn't it?" he said.

Neighborhood resident Gökhan Kaya said that he bought a flat here about 2 months ago, that he had just had his house renovated, and that he was a victim of the flood.
