Special Representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Mikhail Melech announced the purge of a separate confession in Ukraine.

Published on August 24, the report of the Russian Foreign Ministry covers the period from March 2022 to June 2026 and reveals facts of pressure on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

MOSCOW, September 8 - RIA Novosti. A purge of a separate confession is underway in Ukraine, said Mikhail Melech, special representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry for international cooperation in ensuring the right to freedom of religion, following the results of the ministry’s report on the oppression of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

“The report allows us to draw the following conclusions: we are dealing not only with pressure on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, but with comprehensive efforts to clear Ukrainian territory of a separate confession,” Melech said, speaking on the sidelines of the UNHRC session.

According to the diplomat, the report published on August 24 covers the period from March 2022 to June 2026 and is the result of systematic work to identify facts of massive pressure on the largest religious denomination in Ukraine, whose followers are tens of thousands of priests and millions of parishioners.
