Strike at Electrolux in Porcia against the business plan

Strike at the Electrolux factory in Porcia, in the province of Pordenone. The company's employees joined the abstention to reiterate that they are against the revised business plan of the Swedish multinational.

According to the workers, Electrolux "has only reduced the redundancies announced in April without changing its strategy". The plan now provides for 1,454 redundancies compared to the initial 1,719, also confirming the closure of Cerreto Desi (Ancona) and the transfer of products to other countries, with a downsizing of the workforce, in addition to Porcia, also in Susegana (Treviso), Forlì and Solaro (Milan).

The company also requested a production increase, with the aim of reaching 140 pieces per hour, and an intermediate phase of 115 for Porcia. Workers consider this increase in loads "unsustainable".

Urso: "Preserve the factories and employment"

The Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, spoke on the Electrolux issue, discussing with the presidents of the Regions involved in the dispute. "Full sharing with the Regions on the strategy and objectives to be pursued is important, because it strengthens us in the confrontation with the company, which has now reached a decisive phase", declared Urso, reiterating "the desire to preserve the factories and employment and we expect the company to have a credible relaunch plan, based on investments and sustainable production over time".

Then he added: "As expected, we will reunite the national table after the Competitiveness Council on 24 September, in which we will urge the adoption of the European measures indicated in our non-paper promoted together with France, Germany and Poland. We are not giving up".
