Ministry of Education: my country has built 38 Luban workshops in 32 countries

The reporter learned from the press conference held by the Ministry of Education today that in recent years, China's vocational education has achieved a new leap from personnel exchanges and project cooperation to standardization, and has become a new force in international cooperation in education.

Luban Workshop is an academic education or vocational training project jointly organized by Chinese universities overseas. The Ministry of Education supports Tianjin to play its pioneering experience and demonstration role, promotes the establishment of the Luban Workshop Construction Alliance and the Luban Workshop Expert Committee, formulates the Luban Workshop construction regulations and certification standards, and strives for national foreign aid funding support. After ten years of unremitting efforts, the Luban Workshop has risen from "Tianjin Practice" to the "national business card" of China's vocational education. Luban Workshop leads China's "vocational education overseas". So far, 38 Luban Workshops have been built in 32 countries, accumulatively training more than 30,000 academic students and more than 160,000 non-academic students. During the 2026 World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference, four recommended national standards including the "General Requirements for the Construction of Luban Workshops" will be released to further standardize the establishment, construction and operation of Luban Workshops and achieve standardized management of the whole process of "construction-accreditation-evaluation".

At the same time, the Ministry of Education has implemented more than 500 vocational education cooperation projects in more than 80 countries and regions, and a number of "vocational education overseas" brands such as Modern Artisan College and Silk Road College have emerged, providing solid technical talent support to assist international production capacity cooperation and serve Chinese-funded enterprises in their "going global" efforts.
