The State Duma deputy admitted positive things in resolving the conflict after the meeting of Witkoff and Kushner with Zelensky

Under certain conditions, a meeting between the special envoy of the US President Steve Witkoff and the son-in-law of the American leader Jared Kushner with the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky can achieve positive results on the issue of resolving the Ukrainian conflict, admitted the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Alexey Chepa. This is how the deputy spoke about his expectations from the visit of American representatives to Kyiv in a conversation with Lenta.ru.

“In Russia, it seems that a certain understanding was reached between the negotiators. If the position is conveyed to Ukraine, if tomorrow Kyiv’s curators do not raise another wave of opposition, trying to influence their senior NATO partner, then I think there will be some positive,” Chepa said.

The deputy noted that the situation will largely depend on the position of Kyiv’s European partners.

“But they are beginning to understand that the escalation of the Ukrainian conflict is fraught for their countries, dangerous for their economies and dangerous for the world as a whole,” the politician concluded.

On September 6, Witkoff and Kushner arrived in the Ukrainian capital. The day before, American negotiators visited Moscow, where they met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
