In recent days, heavy rainfall has continued to occur in many places in Thailand, with Bangkok and surrounding areas being more obviously affected. The Thailand Meteorological Administration issued a heavy rainfall warning, saying that there will still be widespread thunderstorms and local heavy rain in Bangkok for some time to come. From September 26th to 27th, heavy to extremely heavy rains may occur in central Thailand, including Bangkok and surrounding areas, and the public is reminded to guard against floods caused by continuous rainfall. The Bangkok City Government declared that the entire city is a disaster-affected area and launched a flood prevention and relief command mechanism.
The Chinese Embassy in Thailand hereby reminds Chinese citizens in Thailand and those planning to come to Thailand in the near future to increase their awareness of safety precautions, pay close attention to weather and road conditions, and make proper preparations for flood and waterlogging prevention.
1. Pay close attention to the weather and local official information. Pay timely attention to weather warnings, floods and road traffic information issued by official channels such as the Thailand Meteorological Administration and the Bangkok City Government, especially heavy rain and extremely heavy rain warnings. People living in low-lying areas, along rivers, and near underground spaces should learn about the drainage and hazard avoidance conditions of their communities in advance, and move to a safe location in a timely manner if necessary.
2. Arrange travel reasonably to avoid passing through waterlogged areas. During heavy rainfall, try to reduce unnecessary outings and avoid going to low-lying areas, along rivers, underground passages and roads with serious waterlogging. Before driving, you should check real-time road conditions and do not drive forcefully into waterlogged areas where the water depth is unclear, the road surface cannot be seen clearly, or water flow is obvious. If the vehicle stalls while wading in water, do not start the engine again. Ensure the safety of personnel immediately and contact professional rescue.
3. Be prepared for home and personal emergencies. Chinese citizens living in areas that may be affected by floods are advised to prepare appropriate amounts of basic emergency supplies such as drinking water, food, commonly used medicines, power banks, and flashlights in advance, and move passports and other important items to a higher location. If it is found that the water level around the residence continues to rise, priority should be given to ensuring the safety of personnel and timely relocation in accordance with the guidance of the local government or community staff.
4. Tourists and short-term visitors to Thailand are advised to strengthen safety management during their itinerary. Chinese tourists, short-term business and family visitors who plan to come to Thailand in the near future or are already in Thailand should pay close attention to the weather and traffic conditions at their destinations, reasonably adjust travel, business and outdoor activity arrangements, and avoid visiting rivers, waterfalls and other water-related areas, as well as mountainous and low-lying areas during heavy rains.
5. When going to transportation hubs such as airports and train stations, you should reserve sufficient time and confirm road and flight conditions in advance. If your trip is blocked due to heavy rain, you can contact your hotel, airline, or local tourism and transportation department for assistance.
