Trump urges Zelensky to go to Moscow to meet Putin, but Ukraine denies it and says it will send missiles there

According to a Bloomberg report on the 25th, as the United States seeks to re-inject momentum into the peace talks between Ukraine and Russia, President Trump recently once again urged Ukrainian President Zelensky to go to Moscow to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, Zelensky’s office has denied this.

Bloomberg reported that sources familiar with Zelensky’s position revealed that Trump made the suggestion during a meeting with Zelensky during the United Nations General Assembly this week, but Zelensky rejected it and was unhappy that Trump raised the matter. When asked by reporters when he would visit Moscow, Zelensky replied "I'll go there" and then swore. A senior U.S. official dismissed the incident but declined to elaborate further.

Ukraine's Kyiv Independent reported on the 26th that Zelensky's office refuted the report, and presidential adviser Dmytro Lytvyn said "this is fake news." Ukrainian officials said that Trump and Zelensky discussed the possibility of trilateral talks between the United States, Ukraine and Russia, but Trump did not propose that Zelensky and Putin meet in Moscow.

Russia has repeatedly proposed that possible talks between the leaders of Russia and Ukraine be held in Moscow. Kremlin spokesman Peskov reiterated on the 23rd that Zelensky can go to Moscow and will receive safety guarantees. However, the Kiev government firmly refused, saying that any talks between the two leaders should be held at a neutral location.
