Man sets fire to store for supposed revenge and is arrested red-handed

According to the incident report, the Military Police (PM) were called at around 8:44 pm to contain a fire at the establishment. Upon arriving at the scene, agents noticed that the flames had already been put out.

People nearby told police that a man arrived in a car with a gallon of fuel, poured the liquid into the store's entrance and set it on fire.

The flames reached the structure of the store's gate and damaged at least two motorcycles that were parked in the courtyard. After the action, residents tried to contain the suspect, who fled towards his residence.

When approached by the police at his home, the man under investigation confessed to having caused the fire and stated that he acted out of revenge because someone allegedly linked to the store had scratched his car.

The man admitted, however, that he could not identify who had damaged the car. The case was registered at the Flagrant Center.

The fuel canister and the affected area were inspected by the Scientific Police. The suspect was taken to the Flagrant Center and, during formal interrogation, he preferred to remain silent. The arrest was made in the act for the crime of qualified damage due to the use of a flammable substance, without the right to bail.
