A possible severance of diplomatic relations between Russia and Canada remains a hypothetical issue, despite the crisis in bilateral relations. This conclusion was made by Ambassador in Ottawa Oleg Stepanov, writes RIA Novosti.

“The severance of relations is a conscious, practical step that always has its own goal and is taken within the framework of a specific foreign policy scenario. The question appears to be hypothetical for now. But it is asked often,” he noted.

As the ambassador emphasized, raising such a question indicates the state of relations between Moscow and Ottawa.
