[Reporter Lin Yiru/Report from Taipei] The Taiwan stock market once plunged more than 600 points in early trading today (8th). The silicon wafer group fell into a retracement correction after the stock price rose. The revenue of the major silicon wafer manufacturer Global Crystal (6488) in September was still affected. Affected by the fire at the factory in Novara, Italy, selling pressure emerged during the session, and it once hit the lower limit of 1,095 yuan. As of 11:18 a.m., the decline was still 8.23%, temporarily trading at 1,115 yuan, with a trading volume of 14,000 contracts.

Global Crystal pointed out that as investment in AI infrastructure continues to expand, demand for product lines of all sizes has grown simultaneously, and production capacity utilization has remained high. The impact of the fire incident at the Novara plant in Italy on customer supply has been effectively controlled, but it will still have an impact on overall revenue and production capacity allocation in the short term. The Novara plant began partial resumption of work on September 14, and the epitaxial process has begun shipping. The recovery progress is better than originally expected, but some back-end processes continue to be rebuilt.
